President Hockfield, Queen of Hearts

Two days after the board games appeared around campus, a large Queen of Hearts bearing MIT President Susan Hockfield's face appeared above her door. The card bore several other changes from the usual design: the hammer and plaque from Mens et Manus, the MIT sash, the word HOCKFIELD on the collar of her robe, and MIT's Building 10/Great Dome as her cap.

It was accompanied by a note reading "Dear Susan Hockfield, Here is a holiday card from us to you. Enjoy! -Dedicated Gamers." The note had a Queen of Hearts card (standard design) attached.

            The Last Lecture of 6.001

As part of MIT's reorganization of its Electrical Engineering and Computer Science program, the introductory computer science class 6.001 (which had run continuously since 1980) was replaced with a new class (6.01). For the last ever 6.001 lecture, hackers changed the room number from 123 (in the Stata Center) to 6.001.

                  W20 Christmas Tree

Right before Finals Week, hackers adorned the W20 Christmas Tree (officially, the "Non-denominational  Holiday Shrubbery") with covers from textbooks popular at MIT as well as the various stimulating beverages consumed by students in their quest to conquer those books.

Behind the tree was a banner reading, "Merry Finals! (and a happy end of term)."
